Leith make the short visit to face Portobello RFC at Cavalry Park this weekend, in a kick off brought forward to allow time to get to the bar for the Calcutta Cup game at Twickenham. Our hosts were triumphant in the East Region Bowl Final last weekend with a 47-6 win over Royal Dick Veterinary College, and some will come into the fixture with confidence bolstered by their continued hopes for promotion from East 2, currently sitting 2nd in the table behind champions Broughton RFC. Leith are looking to finish the season strongly, after a disappointing performance at Hawick Linden last time out, and the frustration of the weather-induced postponement of the Trinity fixture last weekend. The visitors will also be looking to atone for a poor performance in the reverse fixture back in December, when Porty ran out comfortable winners.
With a 2nd XV fixture taking place between the two clubs at Academy Park simultaneously, it's a good day for rugby in the north end of Edinburgh. Here's to two hotly contested fixtures, and then a Scotland win at Twickenham!
