Saturday sees the first competitive action of the new term, with the 1st round of the BT Edinburgh Shield, and a visit to Livingston RFC's Almond Park.
Our hosts are East 2 newbies this year, having finished 10th of 11 in East 1 last year, but having claimed some notable scalps over the course of 2018/19, they weren't far away from the rest, and will have their eyes set on an immediate return. The game therefore serves as an interesting marker for the league season ahead, and is also something of a homecoming for Leith Coach Kev Greenan, as he returns to where he began coaching, in the Livingston youth set up. Doubtless there will be some familiar former charges among today's opponents. Lock Fraser Forsyth also returns to where he played his junior rugby, and will also be keen to impress.
The game is a 3pm KO, and supporters are encouraged to get along and cheer on a Leith side that may feature several debutants, as Coach Greenan shuffles the decks ahead of next weekend's league opener at Inverleith.
